Cooking up the best sauce starts with the freshest ingredients
Celery, fresh from the field
Yellow onions and fresh green onions.
Crisp and bright red radishes
Freshly scrubbed and trimmed carrots.
There's the beef!
The radishes are ready for the salad.
The celery is cut trimmed and washed.
More of the "scratch".
Jim and Fred inspect the pork sausage.
Once the ingredients are assembled, it's time to start cooking!
Jim and Fred cook the beef and pork.
Richard places sliced tomatos in a pan for the salads.
Ernie with freshly washed and peeled onions.
Jack scrubs the celery.
Adding the mushrooms to the sauce.
Jack cuts up the lettuce while Richard is left holding the bag.
The best part...Bill, Richard and Fred peel the fresh garlic.

Meanwhile, out in the main dining room...

John and Richard pre heat the coffee urns.
Cooked noodles go into the warming roasters.
Jim adds the final "secret" ingredient to the sauce.

Skip loads up May Raynold's plate.
The hall begins to fill with hungry mushers, handlers, and the public.
It was a full house! Over 350 served.
Josh from LVHS CAN refills water glasses.
Cale looks for empty coffee cups to refill.
Nineteen mushers, their handlers, race officials and the public enjoyed this year's banquet.
Helen knocked herself out again making the dessert cookies.
Dale and Al on the second serving line as the rush begins to ease.
Diners came from all over Fremont County, including the Pfister family from Midvale, being served by Al.
LVHS CAN Program participants addressed the crowd and received a big check from race organizers.
When the serving was over, Fred, Ernie and Jim paused for a smile and a break.
