Club officers, leaders selected for 2024-25 Rotary Year
At the Club’s Annual Meeting on December 5, members elected club officers and At-Large Board members for the 2024-25 Rotary year that begins next July 1. Shelby Rohrbacker, who has already held numerous leadership positions despite her under-30 age, will serve as Club President next year. The other officers and committee chairs will be:

More than 30 cell phone chargers on their way to Ukraine!
The club’s project to convert solar panels into cell phone chargers for the people of Ukraine is charging ahead under Ken Schreuder’s leadership. Sixteen chargers have been shipped already and six more panels are ready to have encouraging messages written on them at the December 13 club meeting. Ken has purchased another 14 panels – bringing the total to 36 – that are awaiting attachment of the voltage converter and the addition of messages for the people of Ukraine. Thanks to Ken’s energetic leadership, this project has helped promote good will and better friendships between Wyoming and Ukrainian citizens and students, including the start-up of a pen pal relationship between students at Pathfinder and Fort Washakie high schools.
Rotary Foundation Giving Approaches 50% of Goal
With just over two weeks left to make a tax-deductible contribution to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) in 2023, club members’ contributions to the Annual Fund have reached almost 50% of our goal for the Rotary year. According to Foundation Chair John Brown, members have given approximately $3,165 to the Annual Fund. The recent pie auction, which featured a variety of delicious pies, was a big success, raising $551. The club’s giving to PolioPlus, the separate TRF fund dedicated to the worldwide polio eradication campaign, stands at $1,600 for the year.
Service Committee Continues Its Torrid Pace
The Service Committee, under the leadership of Dottie Tonkowich and Maria Kidner, is continuing on its torrid pace for 2023-24, with numerous ongoing projects and others in the coming-soon category:
- Five teachers and about a dozen club members are participating in the Read-to-Me reading program at Gannett Peak Elementary School.
- The club has received a $1,000 District Grant to help stock the Little Food Pantries in the first half of 2024.
- Our high school scholarship application for 2024 will be available – hopefully on the club’s Website – by January 1. A volunteer is needed to lead this effort.
- The 2024 Summer Adventure Bags project will be starting up in January. Our club and the Riverton Rotary Club have received a $5,000 District Grant for this project.
- Work continues on the 2024 Rwandan Nurses Saving Lives project, which Maria is leading. The Rotary Club of Kigali will be the host club in Rwanda. Our clubs will seek a $30,000 Global Grant (or more) to fund in part this $57,000 project.

My apologies to all for inadvertently sending an invitation to all members for the January 3 Board meeting (although any and all members are certainly welcome to attend). Sometimes, these darned computers are just too fast for this old guy!!
