New Member Proposal:  Stan Cannon 

Stan Cannon, a former member of the Rock Springs Rotary Club, has been proposed for membership by Bill Sniffin.  Stan recently moved to Lander from Cora, Wyoming where he was born and raised on his family’s ranch. He was a trial lawyer for more than twenty years. His interests include photography, travel, and fly fishing.  Says Bill: “I’ve known Stan for decades. His character is outstanding, and he will be a big asset to Lander Rotary.” 

 

As of a few days ago, we were just $1,166 short of the club’s $7,000 goal for giving this Rotary year to the Annual Fund of The Rotary Foundation, John Brown, the club’s Foundation Chair, reports. The Annual Fund provides matching funds for thousands of Rotary projects everywhere in the world -- every year!  With a strong finish in the last quarter, we can exceed our goal by a bunch! 

 

This year, the Lander Rotary Club will be the host for the annual Gavel Exchange event for the Lander and Riverton Rotary Clubs, and the date has been set – June 21.  Mark your calendars and plan to come and have a fun evening with our friends from Riverton.  Details to come.

 

Past President Julia Stuble and her husband Josh welcomed their daughter Billie Lucia McNary on March 1 at 6 p.m. She weighed 8 lb 3oz. Billie is named after her four grandparents: Julia’s Dad, Bill, for her first name; her middle name is a tribute to both her grandmothers; and her paternal grandfather, of course, for her last name.  Julia and Josh thank the club for the pass-the-piggy-bank donations for her college fund! 

 

Many of you will remember former Lander Rotarian Siva Sundaresan, a conservationist and self-proclaimed “animal lover” who left the club (and Lander) in spring 2022.  Recently, Siva was appointed as the deputy director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the federal agency that oversees all wildlife programs in the U.S.  Says his former boss at the Greater Yellowstone Coalition:  “He’s incredibly sharp, really driven and he has this rare ability to bridge science and politics.” Our congrats and best wishes to Siva!
