Club Officers Elected for 2026-27 Rotary Year
At the Club’s Annual Meeting this week, Eddie Lobatos was elected as President-elect-Nominee, Jon Tonkowich was elected as Treasurer, and Marit Snow Sawyer was re-elected as Secretary, all to serve in the 2026-27 Rotary Year that begins on July 1, 2026. George Case was elected as President-elect at last year’s Annual Meeting and will take office as President next July 1. Congratulations and thank you to George, Eddie, Jon, and Marit. We look forward to your leadership of the club next year!
Special thanks to John Brown, who is serving his second term as President this year, to Marit for her service as Secretary this year, and to Sarah Hamlin, Mike Lilygren, and Mandy Fabel, who have shared duties as the club’s Treasurer and bookkeeper for, well, quite a few years – a shared job well done!!
Members Approve $175 Annual Dues Increase and Bylaws Amendment
Also, in the Annual Meeting members voted 16-15 to approve a $175 annual dues increase effective July 1, 2026. This will raise the annual dues to $675. The club’s dues have been set at $500 a year since 2016, and the club has operated at a deficit in recent years (using reserves to cover the deficit). Corporate and Family memberships will increase by $350 next year.
However, the Service Above Self fee will remain at $200 per year.
Members also approved a Bylaws amendment that will require the Board to review our dues and submit recommendations for changes (or not) to the membership at least every third year. The amendment is effective immediately.
Annual Pie Auction Raises $850 for The Rotary Foundation!
Our annual homemade pie auction, held on November 26, made The Rotary Foundation and several buyers very happy this year! With special thanks to our bakers, Maria Kidner, Chris Dailey, MJ Greene, Jayme Blackburn, John Burrows, Shelby Rohrbacher, Kelly Baxter, George Case, Marit Snow Sawyer, and Helen Higby -- and those who bought their pies – the auction raised $850 for TRF’s Annual Fund!
Ukraine Cell Phone Chargers Still Going Strong!
Our Ukraine Solar Panel project is still going strong, project leader Ken Schreuder reports. We've shipped 150 solar phone chargers to date and are working on 24 more that will be sent out before the end of 2025! The recipients in Ukraine are VERY thankful because some only have electricity for 3 hours per day.
