Rotary Clubs Enthused About Lander Club’s Project to Send Cell Phone Chargers to Ukraine
Four solar panels converted to cell phone chargers by Lander Rotarians have been received in Ukraine to support everyday Ukrainians in that war-torn country, and already other Rotary clubs in District 5440 are getting involved.
Ken Schreuder, the leader on this new and exciting Service Committee project, has been contacted by Rotary clubs in Riverton, Kemmerer, and Thermopolis about sending converted solar panels to Ukraine and has spoken to other clubs about getting started. Numerous Lander churches are being asked for support as well and a District Grant will be sought later in the Rotary year. For more on this project,

Food donations for Little Food Pantries Still Needed
Donations of non-perishable, ready-to-eat foods and snacks are being sought this month to re-supply the Little Food Pantries for the needy in the Lander area. If you have food to donate, you can bring it to a weekly club meeting or drop it off in the large box (there’s a sign on it!) on Maria Kidner’s front porch at 677 South 3rd Street. The Service Committee will be collecting these food items until the end of August.
District Grant Approved for Summer Adventure Bags
The Lander Rotary Club’s application for a District 5440 Grant to provide 500 “Adventure Bags” to children on the Wind River Reservation next summer (2024) has been approved. The program is conducted in partnership with the library on the reservation and the Riverton Rotary Club. The total project cost will be $5,000. The Rotary clubs will provide 1/3rd of the cost and the District Grant will cover 2/3rds. This grant is funded through The Rotary Foundation and the club is eligible for this grant because of our members’ giving to The Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund at the $100/person (average) level. Our club distributed 300 “Adventure Bags” to kids on the reservation earlier this summer, funded by the Service Fee paid by Lander Rotarians.
