Our club will launch a District-wide art raffle and auction in early May to raise more than $13,000 to ship another 100 solar cell phone chargers to the people of Ukraine.  Under the leadership of Chair Ken Schreuder, ken.schreuder@gmail.com, the Club has already shipped 100 chargers to schools, hospitals, Rotary clubs, and others in war-torn Ukraine. It’s not too late...for a date...at the Rotary International Convention in Calgary June 21-25...but time is growing short!  The registration fee is $695, but Rotarians and guests under 30 get a big break at $275.  To register, and for more convention details, click on https://convention.rotary.org/en-us/registration.

 

After receiving what could be a record high 19 applications, the Board has approved the Club’s sponsoring eight seventh graders to attend the Rocky Mountain Young Rotary Youth Leadership Award (YRYLA) leadership program this June in Estes Park, CO.  The Club normally sponsors four students to the five-day leadership academy, but thanks to significant donations by club members, we are able to send eight this year, at a cost of $700 each.  The club will also sponsor two students to the RYLA program for high school students.

Let’s toss a warm towel to Lander Rotarians Cale Case, Carol Chidsey, Jim Kniola, Monika Leininger and Joe Stong for making the jump into a tank of ice-cold water (well, almost...) in the annual Jackalope Jump on March 22.  The event raised over $4,000 in Lander for Special Olympics; Lander Rotary pledged $500.
