Another Successful BBQ is in the Books!
At least 1085 meals were served at the club’s
July 4 Rotary BBQ in City Park, President
George Case, who headed up the event with
Shelby Rohrbacher, has announced. This made fo
r another successful fundraising and public service event that was started in Lander almost 50 years ago. Final income and expenses are not in yet and will be reported in the next month or so. Between $7,000 and $8,000 was received in sponsorships; these funds are allocated for the work of the Service Committee. Thanks to all who worked to make it such a success!
And whatever happened to the leftover bison burgers?
Well, they were turned into sloppy joes (pictured) for the needy recipients of the Good Samaritan Community Meal.
Do You Have a Compelling Service Project for the Club?
Has a compelling service project been burning a hole in your brain? If so, the Service Committee wants to hear from you!!
In the 2025-26 Rotary year just ended, club members (plus some non-Rotarians) donated more than $12,000 to The Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund, the fund that drives Rotary’s District and Global Grants and supports the service projects carried out by Rotarians around the world.
That figured out to $230 per capita (well above the District 5440 per capita of $158!) and that entitled our Club to a $6,000 District Grant in this new Rotary year (2026-27). Unfortunately, that level of giving was not anticipated and we submitted a grant request for just $3,800 (to provide duffel bags of personal items to boys on the Reservation). If our club’s giving tops the $200 per capita mark again this year, that will entitle us to a $6,000 District Grant in 2026-27. If we don’t obtain the full $6,000 Grant, we’re leaving money on the table
The Service Committee and its Chair, Maria Kidner, m2kidner2@gmail.com, are all ears to hear about any brilliant, innovative projects that have been percolating in your brains!! Please let Maria hear about them soonest so we can begin putting your project together!!
