Club to Launch District-wide Raffle for Ukrainian Cell Phone Chargers
In an attempt to raise more than $13,000 to ship another 100 solar cell phone chargers to the people of Ukraine, the Club will launch a District-wide raffle/fundraiser next month. Under the leadership of Chair Ken Schreuder, ken.schreuder@gmail.com, the Club has already shipped 100 chargers to schools, hospitals, Rotary clubs, and others in war-torn Ukraine, where much of the electric infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed by Russian airstrikes. Ukrainians rely on their cell phones to receive warnings of imminent airstrikes, seek medical care, send their children to school, and check on the health and safety of friends and family. The Board has approved advancing up-front costs of $3,700 to purchase art work and photographs (at cost) of local artists for the raffle. “Freezin’ for a Reezin!’ Jackalope Jump on Saturday
Here’s your chance to support Lander's special athletes and be "Freezin' for a Reezin!" The annual Jackalope Jump, a fundraiser for Special Olympics, is this Saturday, March 22 at 11am at the Palace Pharmacy parking lot. Lander Rotary has pledged $500 to get five Rotarians to jump into an icy tank of water. Last year Sam Lightner, Cale Case, and Mike Lilygren took the leap. High school scholarship. Our club awards a $1,500 scholarship each year to a Lander senior (LVHS student or home-schooled) who demonstrates a heart for service and makes good grades.
