ad hoc committee to look at the club’s dues and Service Fee structure and membership engagement, with an eye toward making membership costs more affordable and encouraging more members to attend the weekly meetings and be more actively engaged in club activities and projects. Addressing Mental Health Issues – Do you have ideas?
This year’s Rotary International President, R. Gordon R. McInally, has asked Rotary clubs around the world to focus their service projects on mental health issues in their communities. Several club members are informally discussing possible projects in the Lander community – such as suicide prevention, helping First Responders cope with trauma, etc. If you have an interest in helping us zero in on a project or two, please contact Jerry Venters,

First cell phone chargers sent to Ukraine!
Our first four solar panels/cell phone chargers have been received and quickly put to use in Ukraine! Ken Schreuder,
ken.schreuder@gmail.com, who is heading up this Service Committee project, has received more than $400 in donations and is preparing to purchase more solar panels for conversion.
Planning continues for next project in Rwanda
Maria Kidner, m2kidner2@gmail.com, continues to work on the anticipated project to train nurses in Rwanda to diagnose and treat strep throat. If not treated quickly, strep throat can lead to rheumatic heart disease, which can be fatal. Maria is working with the Rotary Club of Kigali in Rwanda which would be the host club on the project. Reminder: World Polio Day October 24, PolioPlus contributions needed
Just a quick reminder that World Polio Day is coming next month, on October 24, and that there’s no better time to make a contribution to Rotary’s efforts to rid the world of polio, the disease that has crippled millions of children worldwide. Since Rotarians started the eradication campaign in the 1980s, an estimated 20,500,000 children have been immunized and spared the disease. Only 7 cases have been reported so far in 2023.
