The recent effort to raise matched donations for The Rotary Foundation’s PolioPlus fund resulted in $1,380 in contributions to assist in Rotary’s efforts to eradicate polio! Club members contributed $690 and an anonymous donor contributed a matching $690. These contributions will be matched again on a 2-for-1 basis by The Gates Foundation, resulting in a total of $4,140 for the polio eradication campaign. That’s enough to immunize almost 1,500 children in Afghanistan or Pakistan, where polio remains endemic. Thank you, Lander Rotarians!
Board to Propose $50 Dues Increase for Members’ Approval
At its September meeting, the club’s Board of Directors voted to propose a $50 annual dues increase to be voted on by members at the Annual Meeting in December. The Board will also propose that one meeting a month be held as a social meeting after work hours (similar to Rotary After Work has been) at a site other than the Oxbow. Both proposals are designed to help the club operate within a balanced budget. The dues were last raised in 2016. Watch for more details next month.
Here’s What One Rotarian Says Makes a Good Rotary Club
A fellow Rotarian wrote recently about what she thinks makes a strong, vibrant Rotary Club. Her observations:

Jerry Venters Named Rotary Member for LCF Board
Because of our Club’s key role in establishing the Lander Community Foundation, a Rotarian in the club serves as a Board member for the Foundation. At its September meeting, the Board approved the appointment of Jerry Venters to the LCF Board, succeeding Cori Slingerland.
